“Garden-to-Tray” Resources
Your school or personal garden is probably frosted over right now—hello, record-setting cold snap—and any thoughts of gardening have been replaced by thoughts of plowing snow. But gardening season and warmer temperatures will be here before you know it, and anyone with a green thumb knows it is never too early to plan for spring and summer gardening.
In February’s edition of School Nutrition, the Food Focus article, “Growing Garden-to-Tray Opportunities,” written by Kelsey Casselbury, explores how to overcome common obstacles with school gardens and how to utilize the resultant harvest.
For those interested in starting a school garden, or for those who need a little extra support, there is a plethora of resources and grant opportunities available on the topic.
