Pear-ing Up: Resources from April’s Food Focus

Sweet, juicy and buttery, pears are the unsung hero of the fruit basket. With nearly the same texture as apples, they can be swapped into a variety of different recipes, from sweet to savory. In the article “An American Pear: From Tree to (Cafeteria) Table,” written by Kelsey Casselbury and published in the April 2019 edition of School Nutrition, take a ride with SN of the journey of a pear—from first harvest, through processing and, eventually, delivery to kitchen and cafeteria tables around the country.
