We know that School Nutrition magazine is one of your favorite member benefits, and we’re committed to producing an informative, inspirational and instructional publication for you.

However, printing, paper and postage costs have increased drastically over the past few years. As a result, SNA has reduced the number of print issues of SN magazine to six times per year: January/February, March/April, May/June, July/August, September/October and November/December. The January/February issue of the magazine is already available to read.

As a reminder, the print magazine currently gets mailed to director, manager, state agency and industry members. The entire magazine is available to read online in multiple formats—text, a downloadable PDF and a digital flipbook—on SNA’s website. For those that enjoy print, we encourage directors and managers to share their copy with colleagues in your district!

With the launch of SNA’s new website late last year, the online SN magazine hub is more robust than ever. Not only are we increasing the number of online-only magazine articles published regularly, but all members can use the magazine archive to search for articles published previously on topics that are just as timely and relevant as ever. Don’t forget to sign into your SNA member account to access them!

Check out a few highlighted articles that you may have missed from last year:

  • Best. Birthday. Ever. Birthdays are a great opportunity to make students feel special, and these three school nutrition professionals have figured out ways to serve up a memorable celebration for kids in their districts.
  • ¡Vamos a Comer! (Let’s Eat!) How well do you know authentic Mexican food? What’s the difference between true Mexican food and Tex-Mex cuisine? Learn more about the stories behind five favorite Mexican dishes.
  • Get Out of Your Own Way.What if the person stopping you from achieving your goals is…you? Unfortunately, this can be the case more often than we want to admit. But if you start recognizing these common mistakes, according to experts, you can refocus your efforts to avoid the disappointment of a derailed goal, whether personal or professional.

Don’t forget: All SNA members also have access to the brand-new Recipe Library, powered by SN magazine, filled with tons of great K-12 foodservice-specific recipes!
