We are thrilled to unveil the theme for 2025 National School Lunch Week (NSLW25): “Taste the World: Your School Lunch Passport!”
Why This Theme?
As our student population becomes increasingly diverse, it is essential to embrace and celebrate this rich tapestry of cultures. “Taste the World: Your School Lunch Passport” invites students to experience and appreciate global cuisines, fostering a sense of connection and understanding.
How to Celebrate
The School Nutrition Association (SNA) will provide a comprehensive toolkit, resources, and tips to help you plan your celebration, all available in the summer of 2025. Here are some ideas to spark your creativity:
- Global Menus: Feature a different country’s cuisine each day, such as Italian pasta on Monday, Japanese rice dishes on Tuesday, Mexican tacos on Wednesday, Indian curry on Thursday, and Mediterranean-inspired meals on Friday.
- Engaging Décor: Transform your cafeteria into a world destination with maps, travel posters, and images of iconic landmarks like the Eiffel Tower and the Great Wall of China. Include fun facts about each featured country and its cuisine to educate and engage students.
- Student Involvement: Encourage students to share their favorite international foods or stories about meals they’ve enjoyed from different cultures, creating excitement and fostering community.
