CEP Sees Dramatic Rise
A new study by the Food Research & Action Center (FRAC) reveals a significant increase in the number of schools that adopted the Community Eligibility Provision (CEP) in SY2022-23 in order to continue offering healthy school meals to all at no charge after pandemic-related child nutrition waivers expired. A total of 40,235 schools participated, showing a 20.8% spike from the prior school year, and representing an increase of nearly 3.7 million children.
