Lauren Weyand is School Nutrition Director for Craven County Schools in New Bern, North Carolina. She has a Bachelor of Science in Nutrition and Dietetics from Georgia State University and a Registered Dietitian credential and Master of Dietetics Administration (MDA) from Utah State University.

Weyand was introduced to the school nutrition field during her foodservice rotation as part of her registered dietitian program and she has been passionate about child nutrition since. After receiving her MDA in 2017, Weyand moved to North Carolina and continued to work in school foodservice where she has served on the North Carolina Farm to School Advisory Board in addition to her position as School Nutrition Director for Craven County Schools.

What She Brings to the Role

As a registered dietitian, Weyand has extensive nutrition education and experience with child nutrition menu planning. She has been the School Nutrition Director for Craven County Schools for over eight years and is a confident, passionate leader of her team. She has lead her district in expanding scratch cooking and prioritizes serving innovative, scratch-made menu choices that appeal to students.

Personal Interests

Weyand enjoys gardening, running, hiking, attending sporting events and concerts and spending time with her three children, who she calls the “sprinkles on top of her chocolate cake.”
