Ashley Powell, PhD, RD, FAND, SNS

Dr. Ashley K. Powell is a registered, licensed dietitian and currently serves as the Child Nutrition Director for Auburn City Schools in Auburn, Alabama. She holds a Bachelor of Science in Dietetics and a Master of Education in Health Promotion from Auburn University, where she later completed her Ph.D. in Adult Education. She also earned an Education Specialist degree from the University of Georgia and completed her dietetic internship through Georgia State University. Dr. Powell maintains the School Nutrition Specialist credential from the School Nutrition Association and was named a Fellow of the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics.

In her role as Child Nutrition Director, Dr. Powell oversees district-wide food service operations, ensuring full compliance with federal, state, and local nutrition and food safety standards. Her professional background includes experience as a family and consumer sciences teacher, school nutrition coordinator, and renal dietitian.

Dr. Powell has been an active leader within the Alabama School Nutrition Association, serving as President, President-Elect, and Vice President. She was honored as the 2017 ASNA Director of the Year and previously chaired the SNA Professional Development Committee.

She and her husband live in Auburn and are the proud parents of three children—each of whom enjoys school lunch.
