Dr. Ashley K. Powell is a registered, licensed dietitian who currently serves as the Child Nutrition Director for Auburn City Schools in Auburn, Alabama. She holds a Bachelor of Science in Dietetics and a Master of Education in Health Promotion from Auburn University, where she later completed her Ph.D. in Adult Education. She also earned an Education Specialist degree from the University of Georgia and completed her dietetic internship through Georgia State University. Dr. Powell maintains the School Nutrition Specialist credential from the School Nutrition Association and has been named a Fellow of the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics.
In her role as Child Nutrition Director, Dr. Powell oversees district-wide food service operations and ensures compliance with all federal, state, and local nutrition and food safety standards. Her professional experience includes work as a family and consumer sciences teacher, school nutrition coordinator, and renal dietitian.
Dr. Powell is an active leader within the Alabama School Nutrition Association, having served as President, President-Elect, and Vice President. She was recognized as the 2017 ASNA Director of the Year and previously chaired the School Nutrition Association’s Professional Development Committee.
Dr. Powell and her husband reside in Auburn, where they are the proud parents of three children—each of whom is an enthusiastic school lunch participant.
