Alyssia L. Wright is a dedicated professional with an impressive 26-year career in child nutrition. Currently serving as the Executive Director of School Nutrition for Fulton County Schools (FCS) in the Metro Atlanta Area of Georgia, she oversees 97 kitchens and manages a team of 700 school nutrition employees. In this role, Alyssia orchestrates the daily provision of 76,000 meals, skillfully managing a substantial $57 million budget. Alyssia’s passion for delivering wholesome meals to students resonates throughout her team, fostering a collaborative environment dedicated to providing the best service and dining experience to every customer. Her expertise extends beyond the confines of FCS, as she actively shares best practice strategies through various mediums, including conference presentations, radio and podcast interviews, television news segments, and print and digital media.

As an active member of the Georgia School Nutrition Association’s (GSNA) Executive Board, Alyssia served as State President, President-elect, Chair of the GSNA Foundation Committee, Chair of the Nominating Committee, Conference Steering Chair, Conference Steering Co-Chair, Chair of Public Policy & Legislation and participated on a number of other committees. She is excited to continue her commitment with GSNA serving as Co-Chair for their biannual Industry Seminar. Her leadership extended nationally, having served as Chair of the Program Planning and Development for the School Nutrition Association (SNA) and participating in SNA’s L.E.A.D. Grant Advisory Group and Child Nutrition Reauthorization (CNR) Task Force. Alyssia’s impact in the K-12 industry is further highlighted by her past representation on the Governor’s K-12 Restart Working Group and the Georgia Department of Education’s School Nutrition Program Director’s Advisory Council. She also represented FCS on the Action for Healthy Kids’ Urban School Wellness Coalition and contributes to the FCS Emergency Task Force.

Recognized for her outstanding contributions, Alyssia is the Vice Chair of the International Foodservice Manufacturers Association (IFMA) K-12 Foodservice Leadership Council and the proud recipient of the 2022 Foodservice Operator of the Year for Elementary and Secondary Schools, Silver Plate Award. Additionally, Alyssia’s accolades include the SNA President’s Award of Service (2023), SNA’s State Award of Excellence – GSNA (2023), Product Design Champion – New Age Industrial (2022), Nexus Award – Platinum Elite Status – Georgia Department of Education (2019), and the Foodservice Achievement Management Excellence (FAME) Silver Leadership Award (2019).

A native of Atlanta, Georgia, Alyssia holds a Bachelor of Science in Hotel and Restaurant Management with a minor in Business Management from Georgia Southern University. She furthered her education, obtaining a Master’s in Education as well as a Specialist in Education, and is certified under the requirements of the School Nutrition Association (SNA).
Beyond her professional accomplishments, Alyssia is a wife and mother of two children, Braelyn and Branson II. Her family includes two furry companions, Bosco and Bella. In her personal time, Alyssia enjoys serving as a personal chauffer for her kids, fun family activities, spending time with friends and self-care.

Areas of Business Responsible For: I am responsible for overseeing the daily operations of the school nutrition program, ensuring compliance with federal, state, and local regulations, and developing and implementing policies and procedures. I manage the program budget, monitor expenses and revenues, and ensure efficient use of resources to maintain financial stability.
