SNA Welcomes Beth Wallace as 2021-2022 President

 2021-07-15

ARLINGTON, VA — Today, the School Nutrition Association (SNA) will welcome Beth Wallace, MBA, SNS, as president for the 2021-2022 school year. Beth will represent SNA’s 50,000 school nutrition professional members nationwide and take the helm of the Association as it celebrates its 75th anniversary.

With over 25 years of experience in the school nutrition industry, Beth has served as Executive Director of Food and Nutrition Services at Jefferson County Public Schools in Denver, Colorado, since 2016. Jeffco Public Schools is Colorado’s second largest school district, with 150 plus schools serving nearly 83,000 students. Approximately 30 percent of Jeffco students are eligible for free or reduced-price meals.

Managing a $25 million budget, Beth leads a team of more than 400 school nutrition professionals, including a District Chef and a Dietitian, all who provide 6 million meals to nourish students each year. In addition to breakfast and lunch, the team serves summer meals and has implemented the Fresh Fruit and Vegetable program at 19 schools.

In 2019, Beth expanded Jeffco’s summer meals program by implementing mobile summer meal sites to reach students throughout the district with healthy breakfasts and lunches. When the pandemic forced schools to close, Beth immediately launched curbside grab-and go-meal pick up services to ensure students continued to have access to school meals. She partnered with local food banks to provide additional nutrition support for families and introduced mobile bus routes to deliver meals to remote learners.

Previously, Beth served as Director of Food and Nutrition Services for Cherry Creek School District in Colorado and Director of Child Nutrition for Comal Independent School District in Texas.

An SNA member since 1995, Beth has served in numerous leadership roles on both the national and state level. Previous SNA positions held include Southwest Regional Director, Southwest Nominating Committee member, and President of both the Colorado and Texas School Nutrition Associations.

Beth holds a Master of Business Administration from Colorado State University and a Bachelor of Science in Food Science and Technology from Texas A&M University.
