The School Nutrition Association (SNA) stands in solidarity with our colleagues across the Southeast in communities devastated by Hurricane Helene. In the storm’s aftermath, school nutrition professionals are working tirelessly to provide support, with school nutrition staff, many of whom have lost their own homes and loved ones, confronting immense challenges to continue delivering meals to students.
As we all seek ways to support those impacted, the most urgent need is for monetary donations to assist ongoing recovery efforts. National organizations like the American Red Cross, the Salvation Army and Americares are accepting contributions to assist in relief efforts. The Federal Emergency Management Agency advises that financial donations are more effective than material donations, as they enable organizations to address the most immediate needs.
SNA is dedicated to standing alongside school nutrition professionals and the communities impacted by this disaster, offering ongoing support as they rebuild and recover. In times of crisis, it is vital for communities like ours to unite and ensure that students receive the nourishment they need to thrive.
