SNA issued a formal invitation to Agriculture Secretary Brooke Rollins and HHS Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr. requesting meetings and inviting them to speak at the Annual National Conference in San Antonio, July 13 – 15.
- SNA emphasizes alignment between school meal programs serving 30
million students daily and MAHA Commission goals to improve children’s
health through nutritious American-grown foods. - The letter highlights school meals as “one of the nation’s largest public
health nutrition interventions,” able to advance MAHA objectives with
proper investment. - SNA points to a contradiction: recent proposed cuts to nutrition programs
undermine MAHA goals for healthier children.
“We urge the Commission to recognize school meal programs as essential partners in building healthier communities and to include robust investments in these programs in upcoming policies.”
The invitation comes as Secretaries Kennedy and Rollins prepare new Dietary Guidelines for Americans and develop the MAHA Commission’s strategy due in August.
