Exciting changes are underway for SNA, including the launch of the new member portal and an updated membership model.
For the past two years, SNA has been listening to members and state leaders to better understand how the membership experience can be improved. The recently introduced member portal is already providing SNA members with easier ways to manage their membership and access important information online.
State leaders have access to improved reporting tools and searchable membership rosters. School district membership administrators can manage their rosters online, transfer employees instantly and create and pay invoices online.
Individual members also have access to new digital capabilities. For the first time, members can complete certificate and SNS exam applications digitally through the new system.
The improvements go beyond the new portal. Based on feedback from members and state leaders, the SNA Board of Directors approved a new membership model that streamlines the association’s membership categories from 12 to eight:

Under the new model, the Employee and Manager categories will combine into School/Site Nutrition Staff, representing school nutrition employees and managers working at individual schools or sites, as well as central kitchens and warehouses.
District Director/Supervisor and Major City Director/Supervisor will become District Directors and Supervisors, encompassing directors, supervisors and specialists working in school nutrition programs at the district level. State Agency Director & Staff will transition to State Agency Professional, representing individuals who work directly for the state supporting school nutrition programs.
The Educator and Other categories will become Associate, a non-voting category for professionals whose work is closely related to school nutrition, including superintendents, principals, teachers and college or university faculty.
The Student and Retired categories will remain, while Affiliate-Employee and Affiliate-Retired will be consolidated into a single Affiliate category for part-time school nutrition staff. The Life category will become Honorary, recognizing past SNA national Presidents with honorary lifetime membership.
This change will also result in a slight increase in category dues:

With the new portal, and with the membership categories starting to take effect this October, the goal behind all the improvements remains the same: to create a more convenient, valuable and connected membership experience for the entire SNA community.
