SNA is pleased to announce that the Journal of Child Nutrition & Management (JCN&M) has welcomed a new editor, Keith Rushing, PhD, RD, of the University of Southern Mississippi. He takes over the Journal from Susan W. Arendt, PhD, RD, FAND, who served from Spring 2021 to Fall 2022.
As a registered dietitian with a doctoral degree in Family and Consumer Sciences education from Texas Tech University and a master’s in Nutrition and Dietetics from the University of Southern Mississippi, Rushing brings a wide breadth of experience within the school nutrition field to JCN&M. He has worked with the Institute of Child Nutrition (ICN), Applied Research Division, as a research scientist for 12 years.
“I am humbled and honored to have been selected to be the editor of the Journal of Child Nutrition & Management,” Rushing says. “The Journal is the premier publication for academic research supporting child nutrition programs and a key venue to reach our target audience. Several past editors have been my professional models, and I hope to maintain the same standard they have upheld. I look forward to this experience!”
As editor, Rushing will also serve on SNA’s Nutrition & Research Committee.
Published twice a year, JCN&M is the School Nutrition Association’s electronic scholarly journal. Focused on presenting research findings and other evidence-based articles related to school/child nutrition programs, the journal covers a variety of topics including nutrition standards, nutrition education, administration, operations, food production and service, food safety and marketing. The next issue will be published in Fall 2023.
