On October 11, 2022, the Biden-Harris Administration announced plans to provide an additional $50 million in school nutrition equipment grant funding, on top of the $30 million in equipment grants offered earlier this year.
According to a USDA press release, school meal programs can utilize the funds to purchase upgraded equipment to support efforts to serve healthier meals, implement scratch cooking, establish or expand school breakfast, store fresh food and improve food safety. The release also provides an overview of other recent USDA efforts to support school meal programs during SY2022-23.
