Ingredients

3 gal. water
1/2 cup vegetable base, low sodium
25 cups rolled oats, quick
1 lb. 9 oz. sausage crumbles*
1/2 cup butter, unsalted
1/2 cup soy sauce, less sodium*
Kimchi slaw, as needed, optional
Spicy mayonnaise, as needed

Instructions

  1. Add water and vegetable base to large stock pot or tilt skillet and bring to a simmer. Add oats and whisk.
  2. Add sausage crumbles to oats and cook for approximately 10 more minutes, stirring occasionally.
  3. Add butter and soy sauce, stir until butter is completely melted and mixed in with oat mixture. CCP: Hold hot at 135°F or higher until time of service.
  4. Serve 1 cup of oats with an 8-oz. spoodle.
  5. Offer sausage crumbles, kimchi slaw and spicy mayo as additional toppings.

Notes & Comments

*Notes: Plant-based sausage crumbles can be substituted for a vegetarian version. Kikkoman® Less Sodium Soy Sauce can be used in this recipe.
