Eight Decades of Showing Up

We all want to show up for our customers and our colleagues. But showing up is about more than simply being present. When we show up for our jobs in school nutrition, we’re bringing our full effort to those who rely on us. We’re part of an 80-year tradition of school nutrition professionals who rise to challenges, stay dedicated and do their best when it matters. Whether that takes the form of advocacy or innovation, we do what needs to be done to ensure students are fed for their busy days. So, log into your SNA account and take a look at our coverage found in the May/June edition of School Nutrition. Here’s what you’ll find:

  • Big Ideas, Big Feelings, Big Changes: Advocacy in Action at LAC26: Get a recap of SNA’s 2026 Legislative Action Conference, where 800 SNA members spent three days learning about how they can effectively communicate their needs to lawmakers in Congress.
  • The Power of School Meals: SNA’s Annual National Conference is coming up July 12-14 in Charlotte, North Carolina, and this preview of the three-day event covers what workshops, keynote speeches and other opportunities you can look forward to while you’re there.
  • Explore New Products and Solutions in the Exhibit Hall: ANC’s extensive Exhibit Hall always offers the latest and greatest in options for your program, whether that’s food or beverages you’ll want to offer along your lunch line or kitchen equipment that will make you more efficient.
  • 80 Years of Showing Up: It’s been a long journey since Congress passed the National School Lunch Act in 1946. In those 80 years, school nutrition professionals have faced challenges and enjoyed great achievements as they worked hard (and continue to work hard!) to feed America’s youth.
  • Food Focus: The Art of the Salad: Salad are endlessly flexible—you can use any combination of ingredients to build and layer the perfect combo of flavors and textures. Take advantage of what’s in season and make use of what’s available to create something exciting for your students to try.
