Coronavirus (COVID-19) Information

2020-03-03

Emergency-Planning.jpgWith nearly 90,000 confirmed cases worldwide, the Whole Health Organization (WHO) declared the new coronavirus a global health emergency. Now known as COVID-19, the virus was first identified in Wuhan, China, located in the Hubei Province. While most confirmed cases are concentrated in China, the illness has spread throughout the world, including a small number of cases in the United States and Canada.

Due to an abundance of care and concern for our member’s health and safety, SNA will continue to seek the most up-to-date information about the virus and provide it to members as appropriate. SNA is also working with the USDA’s Food and Nutrition Service on protocols should the virus continue to spread throughout the United States. The upcoming Legislative Action Conference (LAC) in Washington, D.C., will continue as planned. SNA is encouraging attendees to practice good health habits.

Take care of your health and protect others by doing the following:

  • Wash your hands frequently.
  • Cover your mouth and nose with a tissue when you sneeze or cough.
  • Clean and disinfect frequently touched and used objects and surfaces.
  • Limit one-on-one contact (hugs, handshakes, etc.) with individuals.
  • Avoid contact with people who are sick, or who appears to have symptoms of a respiratory illness.
  • Stay home if you’re feeling under the weather.

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) also has steps individuals can take to ensure personal health, and has more information available about COVID-19.
