The Power of Community
Now that you’re back to school after summer vacation, you’re surrounded by your teammates and working together to get the job done. This sense of community isn’t just nice—it’s necessary. It’s where some of your best ideas are going to come from, and it gives you the support you need to be at your best. But how (and why) you build community isn’t always obvious. So, log into your SNA account and take a look at our coverage found in the September/October 2025 edition of School Nutrition. Here are some highlights:
- The Power of Community: Community is all about bringing people together. When you’re connected with other people, you can count on support and accountability. But building community isn’t always easy, and often takes conscious effort.
- It Takes a Village to Create a Menu: Andrea Early, Director of Food and Nutrition for Prince William County Schools, shares the specific approach her team took to soliciting student input (and listening to feedback) to build the best menu they can.
- School Meals that Connect Us: Foodservice teams at school districts across the country share their ideas on how you can be at your collaborative best, tapping into your broad community for as many ideas as you can get for your menus.
- Food Focus: Fusion Frenzy!: Fusion food combines flavors from across regions and cultures, making it an ingenious way to add an element of variety to favorites and make new foods more appealing to even the pickiest of eaters.
