Child Nutrition Programs

The House Education and the Workforce Committee has completed a discussion draft of legislation to reauthorize the Healthy, Hunger-Free Kids Act. SNA has issued a statement regarding the draft.

School nutrition professionals from across the country are headed to Capitol Hill to urge Congress to invest in healthy school meals. The effort is part of SNA’s 44th annual Legislative Action Conference (LAC).

SNA has released its 2016 Position Paper urging Congress to pass Child Nutrition Reauthorization legislation and help restore the fiscal solvency of school meal programs.

SNA praised the Senate Agriculture Committee for crafting bipartisan legislation and urged Congress to quickly advance the bill.

SNA and the School Superintendents Association have sent a letter to key members of Congress calling for a Child Nutrition Reauthorization bill that provides increased funding and flexibility under new nutrition standards for school meals and snacks.
