SNF Scholarships

The School Nutrition Foundation (SNF) provides School Nutrition Association (SNA) members with the opportunity to attend SNA’s Legislative Action Conference (LAC), School Nutrition Industry Conference (SNIC) and Annual National Conference (ANC), as well as professional development scholarships to further their education and career.

2024 School Nutrition Industry Conference (SNIC) Scholarships

  • In achieving our mission of empowering and supporting school nutrition professionals, the School Nutrition Association (SNA) will be awarding conference scholarships to members to attend the School Nutrition Industry Conference (#SNIC24) in January 2024. At this conference, attendees will explore the latest trends and innovations shaping the school nutrition profession.  
  • Recipients of the SNA-sponsored SNIC scholarships will each receive $1,400 to cover registration, airfare, hotels, and meals.  
  • SNA will sponsor a total of ten (10) scholarships to support SNA members attending SNIC 2024. Five (5) of the scholarships will be awarded to first-time attendees. 
  • To be eligible for this scholarship, you must be an active SNA employee, manager, or director of at least one year (e.g., 1/1/2023 - 12/31/2023). Each scholarship recipient must comply with his/her school district’s policy on out-of-district travel.     

The SNA SNIC Scholarship application closes on November 17, 2023. 

2024 Legislative Action Conference (LAC) Scholarships

School Nutrition Association LAC Scholarship

  • In achieving our mission of empowering and supporting school nutrition professionals, the School Nutrition Association will be awarding conference scholarships to members to attend the Legislative Action Conference in March 2024. Through this conference, attendees will experience firsthand the inner workings of the democratic process, learn about current legislative and regulatory challenges facing school nutrition and advocate directly with their legislators.  
  • Recipients of the SNA sponsored LAC scholarships will each receive $1,400 to cover registration, airfare, hotels, and meals.  
  • SNA will sponsor a total of ten (10) scholarships to support SNA members attending LAC 2024. Five (5) of the scholarships will be awarded to first-time attendees. 
  • To be eligible for this scholarship, you must be an active SNA employee, manager, or director of at least one year (e.g., 1/1/2023 - 12/31/2023). Each scholarship recipient must comply with his/her school district’s policy on out-of-district travel.

Josephine Martin National Policy Fellowship

Dr. Josephine Martin was a pioneer in the field of child nutrition. Launching her career at the Georgia Department of Education in 1950 as the assistant school lunch director, she soon became a vocal advocate for child nutrition, influencing legislation on the community, state and federal levels. SNF offers one scholarship in her name to a first-time LAC attendee.

  • The recipient of the Fellowship will be awarded up to $3,000 to attend and be recognized at SNA’s Legislative Action Conference, helping to defray travel expenses.
  • To be eligible, you must be an active SNA employee or manager section member of at least three years (e.g. Jan 1, 2021 – Dec 31, 2023), AND, have never attended LAC with have an interest in child nutrition policy.

JTM Food Group LogoThe J.T.M. Food Group Jack Maas, Jr., Scholarship

J.T.M. Food Group is committed to helping school nutrition professionals get the education they need to help feed millions of school children each year. The Jack Maas, Jr., Scholarship will provide members with the opportunity to attend #LAC24. 

  • Recipients of the scholarships will each receive $1,000 to cover registration, airfare, hotels and meals. Each scholarship recipient must comply with his/her school district’s policy on out-of-district travel.
  • J.T.M. will sponsor a total of four (4) scholarships for LAC 2024. Two (2) of the scholarships will be for first-time attendees only. Two (2) of the scholarships will be for returning attendees only.
  • To be eligible for this scholarship, you must be an active SNA employee, manager, or director of at least one year (e.g. January 1, 2023-December 31, 2023).

The J.T.M. Food Group Jack Maas, Jr., LAC Scholarship application closes on November 17, 2023.

2024 Professional Development Scholarships

Nancy Curry Scholarship

The Nancy Curry Scholarship is funded by Handgards, Inc., and friends of Nancy. One scholarship of $500 is awarded each year.

Applicants must be:

  • An active SNA member for a minimum of one year (January 1, 2023-December 31, 2023) and have a history of employment in school foodservice. If you need to confirm the SNA membership, please call 1-800-877-8822.
  • Currently employed in school foodservice as an operator/state agency (Industry and student members are not eligible).
  • Enrolled (or will be enrolled) in a degree or certificate program at a vocational/technical, undergraduate, graduate or post-graduate level in the United States in a program of study which falls into one or more of the USDA Professional Standards subject areas.

Please note that children of SNA members are no longer eligible to apply for scholarships.
