The U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) has announced the availability of $1.5 billion for school meal programs through USDA’s Commodity Credit Corporation (CCC). USDA will provide $1 billion to schools for food purchases, $300 million to states to purchase foods to be distributed to schools and an additional $200 million for cooperative agreements to purchase local foods for schools with a focus on buying from historically underserved producers
