Debbie Stabenow, Chair of the Senate Agriculture Committee, sent a letter to SNA immediate past President Beth Wallace and all SNA advocates recognizing the untiring dedication to speaking up for school meals.
In the letter, Senator Stabenow states, “Your advocacy for the Support Kids Not Red Tape Act and the Keep Kids Fed Act was critical in gaining the overwhelming bipartisan support we needed to get a bill signed into law by the President on June 25, 2022. It certainly was not easy! But working together on behalf of kids across the country, we were able to get something meaningful done.”
The passage of the Keep Kids Fed act provides critical aid, but there is more work to do. We need you to contact your legislators to take up the Healthy Meals, Healthy Kids Act (HR 8450), 2022 Child Nutrition Reauthorization. With August recess and this being an election year, there is very limited time left for the House and Senate to consider and pass this legislation. Here’s how you can help:
