Last month, the Journal of Nutrition Education and Behavior (JNEB) published a study on the impacts of Healthy School Meals for All (HSMFA) programs.

  • The study concluded that HSMFA policies showed promise in increasing access to meals and student participation and reducing food insecurity and stigma.

  • ocus groups involving high school and middle school students expressed gratitude for universal feeding programs and acknowledged it removes the burden from families who struggle with increased food costs.

  • At the end of the study, JNEB addressed the need for policymakers to advocate for the expansion and continuous refinement of HSMFA and prioritize stakeholder feedback.
