SNA’s State Legislative Report is available now! This is one of several SNA state advocacy resources intended to support grassroots efforts at the local level. This report is a summary of key school nutrition state legislation that was introduced between January 1 and August 31, 2024.

Across the nation, there’s a notable push towards ensuring every child receives a healthy meal while at school. Thirty-seven out of the fifty states have either implemented or introduced #SchoolMeals4All legislation.

In addition to Healthy School Meals for All, several states are focusing on:

  • increasing program eligibility;
  • procurement of local foods;
  • school meal application efficiency, and;
  • expanding access to the School Breakfast Program.

This year, over 220 key school nutrition bills have been introduced and 47 of them have been signed into law.
