ARLINGTON, VA – The non-profit School Nutrition Association (SNA) has named Carole Erb, Senior Director of Education Sales for J.T.M. Food Group, as the national Industry Member of the Year. The award recognizes the outstanding contributions of industry members who demonstrate exemplary support to SNA, its members and their professional communities nationwide.

During her 18 years as an SNA member, Erb has volunteered countless hours to the Association. Having participated in numerous national and state conferences, Erb stepped up to serve as SNA’s 2023 School Nutrition Industry Conference Industry Chair, helping to plan educational programing and networking activities.

When school nutrition programs struggled with supply chain disruptions during the pandemic, Erb helped identify solutions on SNA’s supply chain cohort and distributor listening sessions. A long-time advocate at SNA’s Legislative Action Conferences, Erb volunteered for SNA’s 2021 Child Nutrition Reauthorization Task Force, helping to outline legislative priorities for Congress.

Pre-pandemic, Erb was charged with reviewing and approving conference education session proposals as part of SNA’s Professional Development Committee. She also served on SNA’s Industry Advisory Council, providing input and recommendations on initiatives, keeping leaders apprised of industry concerns and promoting membership in the Association.

Erb shares her knowledge and expertise navigating the complexities of the USDA Foods program, supporting SNA members in maximizing their use of U.S. grown commodities to minimize costs for their school meal programs. As a commodities expert, Erb has moderated and presented at SNA education sessions and advocated for improvements to the USDA Foods program. Additionally, Erb has played an active role in the American Commodity Distribution Association, serving on the Board of Directors for the last 5 years and co-chairing the Processing Committee for more than 6 years.

“SNA is so grateful to Carole Erb for her unwavering support of the Association and our members,” said SNA President Lori Adkins, MS, SNS, CHE. “Whether serving on a task force or patiently explaining the intricacies of the USDA Foods program, Carole is always willing to generously give her time to support and advocate for school nutrition programs and professionals.”

Erb will be recognized as national Industry Member of the Year during SNA’s Annual National Conference in Denver in July.
