U.S. Representative Kim Schrier (D-WA) has introduced legislation that requires the Department of Agriculture to conduct a study on scheduling and time allocation for lunch and recess periods in schools participating in the School Lunch Program.
SNA endorsed the measure, known as the “Healthy Meal Time Act of 2022”, which will provide best practices regarding the time lunch and recess is offered and will help ensure students have enough time to eat a balanced, nutritious meal.
