SNA submitted comments to the 2025 Dietary Guidelines Advisory Committee (DGAC), advocating for the inclusion of a school nutrition practitioner on the Committee.
In the comment letter, SNA highlighted the critical role school meal programs play in feeding nearly 30 million students daily and highlighted the practical challenges of implementing the Dietary Guidelines for Americans (DGAs) in school settings.
SNA also emphasized the need for peer-reviewed, research-based guidelines that reflect the realities of operating school meal programs on limited budgets and with labor shortages, and pointed to the success of school nutrition professionals in reducing sodium and fat, boosting whole grains and promoting fruits and vegetables.
