The School Nutrition Foundation (SNF) has named Brittany Williams, Director of Child Nutrition for Lumberton ISD in Texas, the recipient of the AmTab K-12 Signage, Graphics and Decor Grant worth up to $100,000The grant is among 2026 SNF Equipment Grants available to help school meal programs overcome staffing, budget or operational challenges. The additional funding supports programs working to expand fresh and scratch-made menu options, increase efficiencies and enhance the cafeteria experience to nourish students’ school days.

While Williams and the Lumberton staff work diligently to provide nutritious, high-quality meals, the physical space of the cafeteria lacks modern design and cohesive decor. Cafeteria wall graphics, menu boards and signage are outdated and faded from years of use and lack unified design to promote the nutrition program brand across school campuses. The AmTab grant will enable Lumberton to create a cafeteria space that supports student well-being, encourages healthy choices, strengthens community and elevates the school dining experience for years to come.

The district plans to transform the cafeteria into a modern food court environment that is inviting and student-centered. The updates will include décor to energize the cafeteria experience with more appealing service areas and dining spaces that support student connection and school culture.

Clear, engaging menu boards and nutrition-focused visuals will help students easily identify healthy meal options and understand the importance of balanced choices. By highlighting fruits, vegetables and nutritious choices in creative ways, the cafeteria environment can support nutrition education efforts and reinforce healthy behaviors, reflecting the district’s commitment to student well-being.

“The cafeteria should be a warm and welcoming environment that invites students to eat. This AmTab grant will make a powerful difference for us to create a vibrant cafeteria experience that helps increase student participation, promote healthy eating and better reflect our pride in the program,” said Brittany Williams, Director of Child Nutrition.

In a recent School Nutrition Association survey of school meal program directors, 95% of respondents reported challenges with the cost of equipment.

“This grant enables Williams and her team to refresh and modernize the cafeteria while promoting the high quality, healthy meals and fresh options they provide for students,” said SNF Chair, Gay Anderson, SNS.

As the recipient of the AmTab Grant, Lumberton ISD will be awarded up to $100,000 worth of AmTab signage, graphics and decor. They will work with AmTab representatives to determine what best suits their school district’s specific needs.

In addition, Lumberton ISD was also awarded one of 50 Innoseal Set-up Kits, including two Innoseal Professional Sealers and a case of 28-pack multi-color refills. The SNF Innoseal Equipment Grant supports schools serving produce with an efficient bag sealing machine that keeps fruits and vegetables fresh, crisp and healthy.
