SNA’s 2017 School Nutrition Trends Report summarizes findings from a survey conducted with SNA members in August and September 2017. The survey netted responses from 515 SNA director-level members representing 515 unique districts from all SNA regions. The typical respondent had 14 years of experience in the school foodservice profession and represented a diverse mix of school districts with regards to enrollment and the percentage of students who qualify for free or reduced-price meals. The report includes information on menu trends related to student customization, flavor trends and clean label ingredients. The survey also explored on-going issues related to meeting sodium reduction targets and the whole grain rich mandate.
