Ingredients

3 bananas (15-oz. peeled), sliced
24-oz. nonfat vanilla yogurt
6-oz. low-fat 1% milk
2 (15 ounce) cans canned pears, diced, in extra light syrup, drained (21-oz.)
chai spice blend (recipe follows)

Chai Spice Blend (Yield: 5 Tbsp.)
4 tsp. ground ginger
4 tsp. ground cinnamon
2 tsp. ground cloves
2 tsp. ground nutmeg
2 tsp. ground cardamom
1 tsp. ground black pepper

Instructions

  1. To make the chai spice blend, combine all spices in a spice grinder to mix well. Set aside. Reserve 2 tsp. for smoothie and 3/4 tsp. for topping.
  2. Peel and slice the bananas. Place the banana slices in the freezer for 30 minutes.
  3. Put the frozen banana slices, yogurt, milk, drained canned pears and chai spice blend in a blender, and blend until smooth.
  4. Pour into six glasses (about 10-oz. each). Garnish each with 1/8 teaspoon of the chai spice blend and serve immediately.

Notes & Comments

*Notes: Pacific Northwest Canned Pears can be used in this recipe.
