Christopher P. Derico holds a master’s degree in education administration from West Virginia University. Through the West Virginia Department of Education, he holds various administrative certifications, including Superintendent of Schools. He has spent time as a teacher and assistant principal at two different high schools, and as a child nutrition director in two different districts.
On July 1, 2021, Chris was elevated to his current position of Administrative Assistant overseeing all aspects of secondary education and child nutrition in Harrison County, W.Va. He has served two terms as the President of the WV School Nutrition Association. On the national level, he has served on the professional development and membership committees and spent two years as an at-large director on the SNA Board prior to his election to his current role as the President-Elect.
Areas of Business Responsible For: Oversee all areas of secondary education (middle and high school) along with the child nutrition program for Harrison County Schools
What Do You Bring to the Role: A background in education as a former teacher, school administrator, and presently as a central office administrator. I also bring a unique perspective to child nutrition and believe it is a key part of the educational process.

Other Memberships or Affiliations: High school basketball referee in West Virginia for 33 years and an NCAA Division II and III basketball official for 27 years
What You Do in Your Free Time: Travel—I enjoy “getting out of town.” That might mean weekend getaways or longer extensive vacations two to three times a year.
