State Agency Newsletter: Third Quarter - July 2019 Meet the SAAC The SNA State Agency Advisory Council (SAAC) provides a representative voice to SNA leadership on behalf of State Agencies by providing expert knowledge on the inner workings of child nutrition programs at the state level. The Council provides State Agency perspectives regarding SNA policies and initiatives, responses to national proposed policy, and regulatory and legislative changes to child nutrition programs. Members also assist with planning state agency content for SNA’s Legislative Action Conference and SNA’s Annual National Conference. Meet the current SAAC members.SNA Comments on Federal Regulations In addition to legislative advocacy efforts, SNA closely monitors the Federal Register for opportunities to comment on Proposed and Interim Rules, or changes to existing Rules and regulations. So far this year, SNA has notified members of 27 notices pertaining to the operation of school nutrition programs. Of the 27 notices, SNA submitted comments for 13 of them on issues such as State Administrative Expense Funds, the Child Nutrition Operations Study, Uniform Grant Application, and opportunities for regulatory reform. Mark Your Calendars: USDA/State Agency Meeting The USDA/State Agency (SA) meeting is scheduled to convene December 2-5, 2019 at the Renaissance Arlington Capital View Hotel in Crystal City, VA. The Pre-Conference/Intensive Training day will be Monday, December 2nd, with the full conference starting on Tuesday, December 3. The focus will be on CACFP and SFSP.
