SNA Files Amicus Brief in Support of School Meal Flexibilities 2019-09-09SNA has been closely monitoring the lawsuits filed against the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) regarding the 2018 Final Rule on flexibilities for whole grains, sodium and milk. When the lawsuits were filed in April, SNA expressed our strong support for the final rule. At their May 2019 meeting, SNA’s Board of Directors approved SNA drafting an amicus curiae brief, or “friend of the court” brief, to express SNA’s full support for the flexibilities and USDA’s position on the lawsuits. On Thursday, September 5, SNA filed an amicus brief. Visit this link for a summary and click here for the complete amicus brief. SNA will continue to monitor progress on the lawsuits and keep members updated on developments. In the meantime, the Final Rule’s flexible sodium and whole grains guidance remains in effect.
