“I enjoy everything about my job but, if I have to pick one thing, I enjoy the interaction with students and knowing that we are serving healthy meals that they enjoy.”

Why School Nutrition?

I am finishing year number 28 of a job that “found me” at just the right time. My goals at this time in my career are to do the best I can do for students, share my knowledge with the people that I work with, stay active in SNA, and enjoy the ride. This scholarship was very important to me for several reasons. I have been to LAC once before (on a first timers scholarship) and learned so much about a different side of child nutrition that I wanted to learn more. I am part of something bigger and we do make a difference that benefits children and we all have the same goal. I always enjoy learning and appreciate any opportunity to better myself.

Key Takeaways

Change is coming and advocacy is more important than ever. Our combined voices do make a difference.

The Impact of This Scholarship

Just being with a group of like minded people is inspiring but it also validates the choices I made to stay in this profession. I believe in life long learning and this conference provided some very good educational opportunities.

I am truly appreciative of the opportunity that this scholarship gave me. I honestly don’t think I would have been able to attend LAC without the scholarship. I am encouraged and inspired to continue making a difference in child nutrition. Thank you for the generous scholarship!
