Q What motivated you to choose this profession and why is it important to you?

A I have worked in some aspect of foodservice since high school. It took me a few years to decide I wanted to make it my profession. I worked as a chef for many years and feel fortunate that I found school nutrition, where so many children depend on us for nutritious meals on a daily basis. This is the ideal industry for me.

Q How do you stay engaged with students?

A I try to interact with students as much as possible. I participate in new item sampling and when I have time, I enjoy visiting cafeterias and speaking with students. Occasionally, I have the opportunity to visit classrooms and discuss a variety of topics...
