School Nutrition Programs are Heating Up while the Labor Market is Cooling Off

It’s 2019. The economy is strong, unemployment is low, and competition for competent staff is at an all-time high. Students are eating more breakfast and are seeking a more customized meal experience at lunch that includes fresh, locally sourced, made from scratch foods, that require a well skilled fully staffed kitchen to prepare. In this session we will discuss the current labor issues that are impacting School Nutrition programs today and participants will hear from a few Operators and Industry professionals that are successfully overcoming these obstacles.

The SNA Legislative Action Conference provides an excellent opportunity for Food Service Operators and Industry partners to come together to proactively advocate for School Nutrition Programs. Industry members play an integral role in the advocacy process and understanding how to interface with State Associations and Food Service Operators is vital to this process.
