SNA is praising the House of Representatives’ vote to extend critical school meal program waivers through the end of SY 2020/2021 and urging speedy Senate approval and USDA action to implement the waiver extensions.

SNA commended USDA’s decision today to extend all SFSP/SSO waivers through as late as December 31, 2020, allowing schools to offer meals to all children at no charge this fall.

SNA is calling for passage of the Pandemic Child Hunger Prevention Act and the Child Nutrition Relief Act of 2020 to expand access to school meals during SY 2020-21.

Reginald (Reggie) Ross, SNS, School Nutrition Consultant for the North Carolina Department of Public Instruction, will represent SNA’s 55,000 school nutrition professional members nationwide during unprecedented times.

SNA is urging USDA to allow schools to continue serving students through summer meals programs to address challenges of providing safe access to healthy school meals next school year.
