Over the past several years SNA has worked toward creating a diverse, equitable, inclusive, and accessible environment for our members by hosting a learning series, elevating member voices, and bringing focus to issues in the school nutrition environment. During the development of the 2021-2024 Strategic Plan, diversity, equity, inclusion, and access (DEIA) continued to be elevated as a crosscutting theme for all strategic initiatives. As a result, the Board of Directors tasked the organization with undertaking a DEIA assessment to identify areas of strength as well as those needing additional focus.
SNA is pleased to share our partnership with Achieve More LLC to conduct this assessment. President and CEO Mariama Boney, LMSW, CAE, CPEC will serve as lead consultant and, along with her team, will assess perceptions of DEIA among SNA members and stakeholders in the areas of governance and membership. This will help us develop a roadmap for increasing DEIA and belonging and identify metrics for tracking progress.
Beth Wallace, SNA President shared, “Conducting this assessment will enable SNA to build on the DEIA work it is doing and identify areas of strength as well as what we need to focus on as an organization in order to be more inclusive an welcoming to all members.”
In the coming months, volunteers, state leaders, and SNA members will receive invitations to share feedback about our DEIA assessment efforts connected to Achieve More’s work with SNA. Updates regarding the work will be distributed in our newsletters and via social media channels.
