Missouri Legislation Adds New Requirement to School Meal Programs

Missouri state representative Robert Sauls has introduced a new bill requiring schools that participate in the National School Lunch Program or School Breakfast Program to offer reimbursable meals to students who request them. According to this legislation, students should not be required to throw away a meal after it has been served due to student’s inability to pay or a previous meal debt. The bill also establishes guidance to address meal debt.
