SNA Publishes Report on Reimbursement and Meals Served in 2020 2021-03-02Last Friday SNA published an analysis of USDA Food and Nutrition Service (FNS) data comparing FY2019 FY2020 school nutrition reimbursements and meals served. The report's key findings include: Total reimbursement for NSLP lunches, SBP breakfasts, and SFSP meal costs in FY2020 was $1,364,674,575, or 7.65%, less than FY 2019. If the period of analysis is limited to the pandemic months for which data is available (March – September), the overall percentage drop in reimbursements from FY 2019 – FY 2020 is 17.73%, or $1,644,346,826. There were 1,130,866,836, or 15.20%, fewer lunches and breakfasts served in FY 2020 than FY 2019. If the period of analysis is limited to the pandemic months for which data is available (March – September), the overall percentage drop in all meals served (NSLP Lunches, SBP breakfasts, and SFSP Meals) from FY 2019 – FY 2020 is 30.64%, or-1,167,385,116 fewer meals.
