New York State Legislation Would Require Plant-Based Food Options in Public Schools

A bill prefiled by Assemblyman Richard Gottfried would require public schools to offer plant-based food options at a cost equivalent to non-plant-based options. This request has to be made by a student or person in a parental relation with a student.

New Hampshire Legislature Introduces Bill to Establish Farm to School Reimbursement Program

Representative Alexis Simpson introduced a bill that would establish a farm to school reimbursement program. The main purpose of this legislation is to reimburse schools for food purchases made from New Hampshire and New England farms.

Kentucky Legislation Requires the State to Cover Costs of School Meals Not Reimbursed by Federal Funds

State Representative Attica Scott introduced a bill to require the Kentucky Department of Education to cover all costs from the School Breakfast Program and the National School Lunch Program not reimbursed by federal funds.

Nebraska’s Legislation to Implement Hunger-Free Schools Carries Over

The Hunger-Free Schools Act was introduced on January 7, 2021, but it never made it to the floor. This bill has carried over to be held for consideration during this session.
