Record-setting Giving Tuesday for the School Nutrition Foundation 2021-12-08 The School Nutrition Foundation (SNF) has broken all previous Giving Tuesday records with its “Honor Your School Nutrition Hero” 2021 campaign. As of December 1, SNF raised $29,452.40. Donors to the Giving Tuesday campaign honored their school nutrition heroes and what they accomplished over the past 21 months of the pandemic. These heartfelt messages honored employees, bosses, entire schools, and school districts. Here are just a few: “In honor and recognition of the selfless efforts and devotion displayed during the pandemic emergency feeding; thank you all for being Superheroes for the students and community.” “Thank you, Jarrett, for adding value to our school lunch heroes through your amazing work!” Author and illustrator, Jarrett J. Krosoczka, contributed his original artwork for the “Honor Your Lunch Hero” campaign. He is the award-winning author/illustrator of the “Lunch Lady” series of books along with several other titles he has published. “Thank you to our friends at Tyson for matching! Let’s help twice as many nutrition professionals together!” Tyson Foods played a significant role in exceeding the 2021 goal by matching up to $10,000 in Giving Tuesday donations. “At Tyson K-12, we recognize how hard nutrition professionals work on a daily basis to ensure students are well fed and prepared to learn,” said Brook Thomas, Tyson K-12 Channel marketing manager. Often companies will match their employees’ contributions to non-profit organizations of their choice. As it has in the past several years, ITW Food Equipment Company triple-matched a donation made by its K-12 Ambassador, and SNF Board member, Mike Burke. More and more companies have matching programs. When an online donation is made, SNF donors can check to see if their company will match their donation. Funds raised on Giving Tuesday support SNF in its efforts to provide School Nutrition Association members with scholarships, grants and professional development. Over the past two years, SNF provided $3,300,000 in emergency feeding grants, academic scholarships, professional development training and equipment grants. It’s not too late to donate and honor your school nutrition hero. SNF is still accepting all donations and dedications throughout the end of the year. Click here and honor your hero today.
