Congratulations to our 2020 Top 3 State Ambassadors!

2021-02-24

SNF-State-Ambassador The SNF State Ambassadors volunteer their time and effort in helping to bring the Foundation’s mission and benefits to SNA members. The top states in each of SNA’s three membership categories for State Ambassador fundraising in 2020 are Oregon (division 1-600), Colorado (division 601-1200) and Minnesota (division 1,200+). Congratulations to Ambassadors Anne Leavens, SNS, from Oregon, Erika Edwards, SNS, from Colorado and Kathy Burrill, SNS, from Minnesota. Thank you to members in ALL 50 states for raising $70,000 for the School Nutrition Foundation’s (SNF) Annual Fund campaign.

This year, despite the difficulties COVID-19 has caused, our nation’s school nutrition experts have answered the call to provide healthy meals to hungry children through emergency feeding programs. The School Nutrition Foundation can and will help them feed those kids to maintain their basic daily nutrition and well-being, but we couldn’t have done this without the support of our SNF State Ambassadors. SNF will continue to provide grants to school districts across the country so more kids can be fed. We will fund purchases of food and packaging for grab and go meals, mobile carts and kiosks for curbside service, supplies, and personal protective equipment so they and the children they feed remain safe. Thousands of dollars in scholarships are awarded each year so SNA members can advance their education and attend national conferences across the country. Professional development and school nutrition research are also at the forefront of SNF’s mission which is why the State Ambassadors’ work is so important. This year, the winning ambassador (mentioned above) from the top three states will receive a free registration to Annual National Conference (ANC) 2021.

The State Ambassador Program provides an opportunity for State Associations to raise funds that support the SNF.  Ambassadors help raise funds for the Foundation and help spread the word about what it does for SNA members.  Everything from increasing the number of professional development programs to providing a variety of scholarships is at the core of SNF’s mission.
