USDA Publishes Q & A for SFSP and SSO Extended Waivers 2020-10-21 On October 9th, the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) extended all Summer Food Service Program (SFSP) and Seamless Summer Option (SSO) waivers through the end of the 2020/2021 school year. USDA extended 12 waivers that include: Reimbursement for Meals Served Prior to Notification of Approval, Offer Versus Serve in SFSP, Meal Service Time Restriction in SFSP and SSO, Waive First Week Site Visits in SFSP, Area Eligibility for Closed Enrolled Site in SFSP and SSO, Parent Pick Up, Non-congregate Feeding in SFSP and SSO, Meal Pattern Flexibility in Child Nutrition programs, Meal Pattern Flexibility in SFSP and SSO, SFSP and SSO Option Operations, Area Eligibility in CACFP At-Risk Afterschool Care, and Area Edibility Waivers. Along with these waivers, the Food and Nutrition Service has published " Questions and Answers Relating to the Nationwide Waiver to Allow Summer Food Service Program and Seamless Summer Option Operations through School Year 2020-2021". This memorandum includes questions and answers intended to provide clarification to State Agencies and Program operators on issues related to recently published waivers for SFSP and SSO during the COVID-19 Pandemic.
