The USDA Food and & Nutrition Service (FNS) has updated program information pertaining to how FNS nutrition programs respond to a pandemic response. The National School Lunch Program and the School Breakfast Program have built-in flexibilities and contingencies to allow them to respond to on-the-ground realities in the event of a disaster or emergency.

Coronavirus is prompting the shutdown of schools and districts across the country.  Using a combination of local news reports, National Center for Education statistics, and school/district websites, Education Week is tracking specific school and district closures and the number of students affected with an interactive map and table listing the status of publicly announced closures. The data is being updated twice a day.

Additionally, if your school or district is being affected by a closure and it is not listed, you can email library@epe.org with a link to a news report or announcement and it will be added to the map/list.
