Make a Difference with Your 2020 SNA Awards Nomination!

2020-01-24

Your nomination for the 2020 SNA Awards could not only lead the deserving SNA member to an award for Employee, Manager or Director of the Year but could also create more momentum within your district! Robin Dake, (McMinn County High School, Tenn.–Manager of the Year, 2019), was nominated by past and present supervisors who worked together to submit her application.

SNA Awards Winner Robin Dake"I think [my nomination and win] was based on the combination of the love I have for my students, my desire to encourage their involvement, my pride in my job and my 25 years in foodservice."

"I was already surprised to be chosen for the state of Tennessee, and I couldn’t believe when I was chosen for the Southeast Region. So, I was totally overwhelmed when I found out that I had been chosen as the national winner. I cried!"

Recognizing someone on your foodservice team, just by simply submitting the nomination, could leave a positive impact within your district, creating room for new initiatives and opportunities. Dake, for example, sheds light on how she plans to continue making great changes within her cafeteria.

"There are new products that are available and new recipes that my staff wants to try. Both of these are good opportunities to help encourage our students to eat with us. Overall, I would say the most important thing to me is feeding the students with a smile on my face."

The application process does not need to be daunting. For Dake, her supervisors worked together to lighten the load of the nomination process. You, too, can save time on the application process by working with co-workers—splitting up the application process and putting your team’s work together!

Submissions are due online by March 1, 2020; however, the deadline is different for a few select states. (Be sure to check out the exceptions.) Early submissions are strongly recommended to ensure the nominee remains eligible throughout the nomination process. The three national winners will receive an all-expenses paid trip to SNA’s 2020 Annual National Conference in Nashville, Tenn., where they will also be honored and bestowed plaques at the annual Red Carpet Awards Ceremony.
