SNA: Combatting Outdated Stereotypes of School Meals 2019-11-08SNA members have worked tirelessly to transform school meals, which is why continued misinformation and negative portrayals of school meal programs are so frustrating. Recent videos, including one produced by the company Sweetgreen, have failed to depict a realistic picture of school meals and celebrate the tremendous achievements of school nutrition professionals nationwide. SNA recently communicated with Sweetgreen founder Nicolas Jammet and called on the company to stop spreading misconceptions about the quality of school meals. We are heartened that Mr. Jammet has indicated a desire to learn more about your work and find ways to portray the positive, continuous improvements in today’s school cafeterias. SNA will continue to advocate on your behalf, educating the public on your passion and dedication to feeding students nutritious meals. Every day, through media outreach, SNA’s Tray Talk blog and Facebook page, SNA tells the real story. We are shining a spotlight on continuous member efforts to serve fresh, delicious, healthy school meals that fuel student success each day. SNA is also equipping members with tools and resources to promote their school meal programs in their local communities.
