Celebrate National Dairy Month this June 2019-06-03 June is about to get utter-ly fabulous. While fruits, vegetables and whole grains get the most emphasis in the school nutrition sector, dairy should not be forgotten. With its punch of protein and vital vitamins and minerals, dairy is a nutritional powerhouse and plays to kids’ preferences. This June, celebrate National Dairy Month! Happily, dairy consumption goes far beyond the milk carton. From yogurts to string cheese, dairy comes in many forms so it’s easy to get creative with different recipes. Milk can be added into smoothies, create tasty parfaits with yogurt, a sprinkling of cheese can amplify a taco salad or pair cottage cheese with banana and pineapple for a delicious new spin on a banana split.
