Have you ever thought about nominating your colleagues, friends, peers or supervisors for the 2019 SNA Awards? Just think of the excitement and pride you could be responsible for bringing to your district! In this web story, Connie Little, SNS (2018 Director of the Year) shares what her award has meant to her. Make sure to read the enthusiasm that shines through from Kay Flint (Employee of the Year), as well as the humble encouragement from Jerrilyn Hernandez (Manager of the Year), the first two installations in our SNA Awards testimonial series. Connie Little, SNS, Beavercreek City (Ohio) Schools Looking back, it was humbling just to be nominated by my staff for the State Director of the Year Award, let alone to be tapped out and honored for the ultimate National Director of the Year Award for 2017-18. I may have vision, but I see the award as a celebration of my team’s dedication to bring those visions to reality. I appreciate each and every one of my staff’s dedication to the program. Today, I continue to use my experience as an Institute of Child Nutrition training consultant, helping other school nutrition professionals to be their very best at serving our students. The 2017-18 State, Regional and National Director of the Year Award, was a pinnacle for me and my team, recognizing us as an example of what our professional organization truly stands for, serving and keeping our students at the center of our plate. So why not be that nominating person? For me, it was the first step in bringing home recognition, honor, pride and excitement to your program’s efforts. Submissions are due online by March 1, 2019; however, the deadline is different for a few select states. (Be sure to check out the exceptions.) For a complete list of rules, entry forms and answers to all of your questions, be sure to check out the SNA Member Awards page.
